Yes, you heard right...Kevin you might want to stop reading here. Today I fell in love-I'm not sure what the exact time was, but I do know exactly what I was doing-running. More specifically I was on my l-o-n-g run. It was glorious...it took me about a mile to settle into my pace (I had to keep telling myself "you can't run too slow") and once I did, it was just perfect. My playlist was good, the weather was good, my body felt good...everything was just good! Last week the 5 miles made me a little nervous and I ran them too fast for a long run. Not the case today-I felt confident, strong, and slow. I was mentally list-making, wondering who lived in what house, wondering what our adjoining neighborhood looked like 20 years ago (pretty nice I'm assuming), thinking about future races, thinking about nothing...it was just a good run! And to top things off as I neared closer to the house I thought, hey-I could run another couple miles no problem...cha-ching...success!!! This will come in handy next Sunday when the long run jumps up to 6 miles :-) I'm looking forward to it!
This week brings upped mileage on Tuesday and Thursday=4 miles. Wednesday stays 2 miles, but I'm adding some speed work. I'd really love to run a sub 9min. average pace during my training runs...I would even take 8:50. Right now I hover around 9:30/9:25. I can always pull faster times out of a race which is fine, but I'd love to have my weekly runs get faster too. I'll let you know!
